Victory Square 2. Webcams Melitopol

The webcam is installed in the very heart of Melitopol (Zaporozhye region of Ukraine).

The lens captures a view of Victory Square, which is the most important in the city. The device is directed in the direction of the car parking near the Palace of Culture im. T. G. Shevchenko. The broadcast is broadcast in real time.

Orthodox churches play an important role in the life of Melitopol, whose webcams can be viewed on this site.

Chief among them is the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. It was built in the 19th century and has an unusual destiny. The building that we see today, in fact, was erected during the Second World War on the site of an old Armenian church. The first church was located nearby, but it was closed during the years of revolutionary persecution of the church, and a little later it was completely destroyed. Subsequently, a pavilion of the covered market appeared on its foundation.
The new cathedral, which appeared during the period of the fascist occupation, was named in memory of the lost shrine. But after the Victory over the Nazis, the Soviet authorities made several more attempts to close the temple. Representatives of the Orthodox community managed to defend the shrine.

Moreover, until 1973, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was the only functioning temple in the city.

Already in our century, a large-scale reconstruction of the sight was carried out. From the previous structure, only the walls were left, and the upper parts were completely rebuilt. The temple was crowned with new domes and an additional central chapter above the altar. At the same time, new frescoes and an iconostasis appeared inside the building. For the comfort of the parishioners and the preservation of decorative elements, a heating system was installed under the floor. And the bell tower was increased by one more floor.
The oldest temple in Melitopol is the Church of the Archangel Michael in Tikhonovka. Many trials also fell on the fate of this object. It was built at the end of the 19th century on the site of several previous wooden churches that were lost during the fires. Many historians are sure that the foundation on which the stone walls were erected is more than 10 centuries old. For a long time, the new building housed a five-tiered wooden iconostasis.
With the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, a hospital was placed within the walls of the church. And after the Soviet troops began to put pressure on the Germans who occupied these territories, the angry fascists wanted to blow up the building together with the residents of Tikhonovka, in which it was housed. However, these plans were not destined to come true and the temple, which survived the revolution, two wars and the era of Soviet atheism, remained in its place to this day.

Already in our century, the cult object was included in the honorary list of the "Seven Wonders of Melitopol Region" and is one of the most attractive objects to this day.
