The mansion has come a long way before becoming a museum. After the emigration of the Chernikov family to France, the building was given over to the headquarters of Lieutenant General Wrangel. Later there was a club here. And only at the end of the 60s of the last century, the object was transferred to the balance of the city and, in order to preserve it in its original form, it was decided to place rich museum collections within its walls.

Today, the Melitopol Regional Museum houses 17 permanent exhibitions, including about 60 thousand exhibits.

Here you can see samples of ancient Scythian gold, a rich numismatic collection, archaeological and paleontological finds, documents and photographs, old household items and much more.
There are two more architectural monuments next to the Museum. This is the former International Commercial Bank of St. Petersburg, where today the printing house and the editorial office of the local media are located. The building appeared in Melitopol at the end of the 19th century. The second monument is the mansion of the local industrialist Gustav Schatz, where the District Treasury is based today. The house was built in the Art Nouveau style at the beginning of the last century and is a real decoration of the historical center of Melitopol.

Urban sculpture occupies a special place in the city.

Separately, it should be said about the temples of Melitopol, which appeared here, both during the founding of the city and in later periods, including the 21st century.
The recent cult sites of Melitopol include the Monastery of St. Sava, built by the monk Tikhon, who came to the city from the village of Terpenie, Melitopol region. This village is famous for its healing springs, which are located on the territory of the reserve as many as twelve.
The consecration of the monastery took place in 2005. And after another 2 years, a new baptismal church was built on its territory, which supplemented and expanded the previous structure.

The main cathedral of the city was consecrated in honor of Alexander Nevsky.

The building was erected in 1815 and has passed many tests in its history. So, the temple was rebuilt into an Armenian church, and then completely given over to a laboratory and a food company. During the war years, the cathedral was opened for worship, and after the victory, they again wanted to take it away from the faithful. Fortunately, the Orthodox community managed to defend the building and protect it from final destruction.

Another ancient temple in Melitopol is called the Holy Trinity.

Its stone structure replaced several wooden ones, which, as one, perished in the fires. Many experts suggest that the foundation on which the new church was built in 1940 is more than 1,000 years old.
