Most of the attractions of Melitopol, whose webcams can be viewed on this site in real time, are occupied by Orthodox churches.

They were built at different times, and bring an aesthetic and spiritual component to the look of the urban environment. The main city temple of Melitopol is the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. It was built at the beginning of the 19th century and illuminated in honor of the outstanding military leader. However, many trials fell on the fate of this object.
So, 70 years after the founding of the cathedral, an Armenian church was built in its place. After the October Revolution, the temple was closed, and later a laboratory dairy center was located in it. During the occupation of the city by Nazi troops, the temple was reopened. After the Victory, the Bolsheviks tried to close it, but thanks to the efforts of the Orthodox community, they managed to defend it, preserving its cultural and spiritual heritage.
No less harsh fate awaited the Holy Trinity Church. So, the object was completely closed due to the ban of the Soviet authorities on worship. The temple was in disrepair for almost 40 years. The object was returned to believers only after the collapse of the USSR.

Already in our time, the Melitopol Church of St. Catherine was built.

On the initiative of the mayor and abbot of the Nevsky Monastery, in 2008 the first stone of the future construction was erected. A capsule with the relics of St. Luke was put into the foundation, as well as stones brought from the monastery sanctuary of the Great Martyr, located on the sacred Mount Sinai. On the bricks from which the walls of the church are built, the names of the people who donated money for the construction of the temple are written. The first divine service in the Catherine Church of Melitopol was held in 2010.
Another church consecrated in the name of St. Andrew the First-Called belongs to the XXI century. Despite its modest size and lack of rich decor, many parishioners celebrate the wonderful atmosphere of peace and spiritual light that reigns in this place.

Among the oldest sights of the city, one can note the temple of the Archangel Michael, which was built in the nearest suburb.

The structure appeared in the village. Tikhonovka back in the 19th century, replacing a dilapidated wooden church in 1905. It is noteworthy that all previous temple buildings at this place were destroyed by fires. Many experts are confident that the foundation on which today's temple stands appeared here over 10 centuries ago.
