St. George street in the historic center of Vladimir, near the Golden gate, will not pass, no tour here concentrated numerous tourist attractions. The Church of St. George in this series takes a special place — it is an active parish Church, where, like hundreds of years ago, people ease their souls from life's trials and tribulations.
Officially the Cathedral was erected in 1796 but was first mentioned in the records of churches, founded by Prince Yury Dolgoruky in 1129, it was completed by his son Andrey Bogolyubsky 30 years later. The temple became the center of the monastery, which lasted until 1778, after which by decree of Catherine II was abolished and the Church was transferred to the rank of a simple parish. Two years later all the buildings of the abandoned monastery were burned in the fire. And after 5 years of white stone built the temple that we see today. In 1930 it was closed, the building was used for household needs, there was even a smokehouse fishing cooperative. In 2006 the Church was returned to Russian Orthodox Church, and two years later resumed service.
