On the ground floor, dedicated to the prehistoric era, visitors are offered to get acquainted with military and agricultural tools. Many objects date back to the Iron Age, among which are funerary objects and Greek amphoras made in Corinthia, Calcides, Attica and Italiot.
There are also many finds dated between the 6th and 4th centuries. For example, there are such masterpieces as the winged sphinx, gorgon and boat nuragica. Standing out among them is the splendid tiara also known as "Hera's crown", consisting of a strip of gold foil that develops a braided decoration on the inside, while on the outside there is a line with leaves and berries supported by twisted wire. At the bottom are some leaves, possibly maple or vine.
The original core of the museum consisted of materials from unofficial excavations and an antiquities market, then the collections were replenished by the citizens of Crotone, whose webcams allow you to walk around the city in real time.
In 2007, the museum heritage was enriched with another very valuable find from the secret excavations in Stangoli - this is askos. It is a bronze vessel of the 5th century, which depicts a mermaid with a bird's body and the head of Didonna. Another section of the museum is devoted to the discoveries of the ancient Crimisa, the current Ciro Marina and the Greek sanctuaries in Viña Nuova.
