Pushkin, whose webcams are available in real time on the site, is famous not only for the Catherine Palace and the park.
At the same time, the city also has the Alexander Palace and Park Ensemble. This residence was called the New Tsarskoye Selo Palace. It was built in the style of Palladian classicism at the end of the 18th century. Catherine II gave this building to her grandson, Grand Duke Alexander Pavlovich. It is not so magnificent and only two-story. The shape of the building is elongated with double wings on the sides, and the northern facade is crowned with several rows of columns.
During the reign of Nicholas II, this palace became the main residence of the imperial family. It hosted all important events, including the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty. During the Great Patriotic War, the building housed the Gestapo and the German headquarters, and a prison in the cellars. Restoration work is underway here. The interior decoration and fragments of the original decoration of the pre-revolutionary period have been preserved only partially.
In Pushkin, whose webcams provide an opportunity to see the city landscapes in real time, there is also a public space Alexander Park.
It does not look so solemn, more comfortable and peaceful. Landscaping of the territory was carried out in the 40s of the XVIII century. At that time, the park was divided into 4 squares and surrounded by the Cross Canal. Closer to the middle of the century, they created the bulk mountain Parnassus and the Chinese village. The latter is a complex of one-story houses with an observatory. There was also a Chinese bridge and a theater. Later, all the buildings became residential, and each house had its own small garden.
The park itself can be divided into two parts: the New Garden and the Landscape Park. Of all the buildings located on this public territory, several buildings in the neo-Gothic style can be distinguished: Chapelle, Lamsky Pavilion, Arsenal, White Tower and Pioneer stable. Not far from the park is a cemetery of imperial horses. Also, a children's house for the children of Nicholas I was built in the center near the pond.
