From the end of the XVIII century. before the October Revolution, the city was called Tsarskoye Selo. Then for a short time it was called the Soldier's Village. In 1918 it was renamed the Children's Village of Uritsky. This name was assigned to him until 1937. From February of the same year to the present, he has a modern name.
In addition to the famous palace and park ensemble, here you can look into several museums. Among them, a small house, made in beige and white shades, is the dacha of the poet Alexander Pushkin. Here he lived with his wife Natalya Goncharova. There are 10 rooms in this building, of which eight were rented by Pushkin, and two were occupied by the hostess. Most of the famous works of the poet were written at the dacha, for example, Onegin's Letter to Tatiana, Belkin's Tales, Tales of Tsar Saltan. It should be noted that since 1831 all the interiors have been preserved almost in their original form, which creates a special atmosphere.
Another famous attraction of Pushkin, whose webcams allow you to see the streets of the city online, is the Imperial Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum.
It was here that the Great Poet studied among the first set of lyceum students. The issue of 1811 also included such figures as Küchelbecker, Anton Delvig, Alexander Gorchakov, Modest Korf. The most surprising thing is that the average age of the teaching staff did not exceed 28 years. Almost all professors were educated, went to courses in Europe and returned to Russia, being with broad liberal views. Now it is a memorial museum, where you can see the classrooms of those times, a library, rooms with a recreated atmosphere. Also in the expositions are the works of students and books dated from the 19th century.
Coming to the city with children, it is necessary to visit the museum-theater "Pushkin's Tales".
