School Street (formerly School Lane) appeared in the early 19th century. Originally, School Lane occupied a section from Palace To Boulevard Street (October Boulevard). The lane limited the southern part of the School Garden, to which it owes its name. The Garden School grew trees, flowers and shrubs for planting in Alexandrov Park. The school was headed by Fyodor Lamin, the chief garden master of the Tsarskosel palace administration. On the corner of School Street and October Boulevard is a house owned by F. F. Liamin, where the garden masters and their apprentices lived. Currently, the house is residential, on the ground floor there are shops.
Gradually, the School Lane continued to Leningrad Street, and in the 50s and 60s of the 20th century - to the street of General Khazov, but for a long time continued to be an alley. In the late 1980s, the lane briefly became Ivan Pushchin Street, and in 1993 it was renamed School Street.
