Guy, whose webcams are available online on this site, has the status of the 1000th city in Russia and is considered the precious pearl of the Southern Urals.
This settlement cannot boast of ancient monuments of history or architecture, because. was founded in the late 1950s. However, there is something to see and something to be surprised.
Guy began his chronicle as a working settlement during the construction of a local mining and processing plant, which was founded near the discovered deposits of copper-pyrite ores. But after 20 years it received the status of a city of regional subordination under the number 1000. The coat of arms of the city was approved much later. And this settlement owes its name to the “folk” name of a birch grove, which frames a healing spring 6 km from the city. It was here, back in 1934, that a sanatorium and resort complex was built, where therapeutic and preventive programs were implemented using mineral water and natural mud of the local lake. The institution operates to this day.
Guy, to some extent, owes his appearance to the famous Orenburg geologist Iosif Rudnitsky, who initiated the start of exploration work in these parts.
Of course, during the Second World War, work stopped. But after the Victory they resumed again. It was then, in 1950, that the first deposits of copper ore were discovered. And 9 years later, construction work began on the construction of the plant. It was an all-Union construction site, which attracted communists and Komsomol members from all over the USSR. And literally in a year of construction, residential buildings, infrastructure facilities and industrial buildings appeared on the territory of the present Guy. At the same time, the first 5 thousand tons of ore were mined.
In honor of the workers of the first combine in Gai, who took part in the Great Patriotic War, a monument was erected, which has survived to this day. Another similar monument, called "Glory to Labor" stands at the building of the plant management of the very first enterprise. And in honor of the Victory over fascism, at the intersection of Lenin Street with Victory Avenue, a monument was erected to the 50th anniversary of the defeat of the fascist army. It was opened on May 9, 1995 and named "Surviving and Victorious, Dead and Alive". The author of the project, built from natural granite, was Vladimir Petrovsky, and the order crowning the high spire was created from metal by Alexander Kodyakov.
Today, more than 35 thousand citizens live in Gaya. These people honor the memory of their ancestors, contribute to the development of the settlement.
If it is not yet possible to visit these places, Guy's webcams, which can be watched online in real time, will allow you to immerse yourself in an exciting virtual journey.
