The structure, built in the early 14th century on the orders of Sultan Muhammad al-Nasir, was intended to supply water to a large fortress. The hydraulic structure lasted for 3.4 kilometers. The Ministry of Tourism along the entire aqueduct plans to green and ennoble the territory, to place entertainment establishments, workshops, eateries and souvenir shops.
