Berdsk, whose webcams can be viewed online on this site from anywhere in the world, is a popular destination among Orthodox pilgrims traveling to Novosibirsk.
There are several majestic temples here, which are undoubtedly worthy of attention.
On M. Gorky Street, 44, the elegant Transfiguration Cathedral rises with beautiful facades and multi-colored domes. The construction of the temple started after the collapse of the USSR, in 1992. The creator of the project was Peter Chernobrovtsev from Novosibirsk. Later, a belfry was added to the main temple, to which nine bells were brought from Kamensk-Uralsk in 1998. Today the temple has the status of a cathedral and is part of the Novosibirsk and Berdsk eparchies.
The Church of the Meeting of the Lord on Lazo Street has an unusual and even tragic history. Back in the years of the foundation of the Berdsk prison, at the beginning of the 18th century, a church was built here. However, with the coming to power of the Bolsheviks, the temple, like many other religious buildings of that period, fell into oblivion. The object was first closed to the public, and later destroyed. Ultimately, the temple, or rather its ruins, disappeared under the waters of the Novosibirsk reservoir, which flooded the historical center.
The parish was restored in 1989, and in 2005 the prison church was completely rebuilt. The modern building is made entirely of wood. The temple is crowned with a hipped roof made of green tiles with a gilded dome, which echoes the top of the bell tower.
The most modern religious building is the Church of the Epiphany of the Lord. It is built in a strict but elegant style and is somewhat reminiscent of the previous temple. The structure is also made of wood and topped with a hipped dome. It was built in honor of the 300th anniversary of the city in 2017. The first stone was laid by Metropolitan Tikhon of Novosibirsk in 2014, who later consecrated the church.
Among other religious sites in Berdsk, it is worth noting the Chapel of St. George the Victorious, built in 2005 near the Berdsk Cossack Cadet Corps. In honor of this saint, a parish is also named in Berdsk, which has become one of the cultural venues of the city, on the basis of which various events are held. The object is of interest to both residents and visitors to the city.
If there is no way to go to the Novosibirsk region yet, Berdsk webcams will allow you to shorten any distances and walk along its quiet streets in virtual mode.
