The reservoir was created at the new hydroelectric power station. However, it turned out that its waters flooded the historical part of Berdsk. And only thanks to the efforts of local residents it was possible to preserve this settlement. The streets of Berdsk were moved 8 km from the place where it was founded. And the center was one of the districts, which until that time was located near the outskirts.
Today, during low tide, the Ob reservoir opens ancient artifacts and architectural monuments. There have been cases when burials of historical figures appeared in front of citizens and tourists. This happened to the merchant Gorokhov, buried in this city, whose remains were moved to another place. Among the sunken graves, one can also note the grave of M. Larionov, who during his lifetime was a state councilor and made an invaluable contribution to the development of Berdsk.
