Lomonosov's webcams, which you can watch online on this page, will allow you to make an amazing journey to one of the most beautiful cities in Russia
It is in this city, which during the time of the Russian Empire was called Oranienbaum, that a unique palace and park complex has been preserved, which today is a monument of history, culture, architecture and art of federal significance.
The Oranienbaum complex is a set of architectural objects left over from the reign of Peter I and subsequent monarchs of the Russian Empire. The buildings are surrounded by a wonderful garden and park ensemble, which delights visitors to the museum-reserve, with a variety of its layouts and stunning decor.
The center of the composition of Oranienbaum is the Great Menshikov Palace
It is a unique example of the palace architecture of the Peter the Great era. The building has a central building and two galleries diverging in opposite directions from it. The annexes, in turn, are completed by the Church and Japanese pavilions. In the Church pavilion there is a temple in the name of St. Panteleimon, consecrated in 1727. Built by Prince Menshikov, for almost 200 years the object was both a court and a parish church.
In addition to the Bolshoi, several more palaces and other structures were built on the territory of Oranienbaum in later periods. So, under Catherine II, a Roller Coaster with a pavilion appeared on the territory of the complex. The place was arranged for entertainment. But until now, only the pavilion has remained from the huge engineering facility, which includes ramps for wheelchairs and galleries. The building is considered an architectural monument of the period when Rococo was already receding, and strict classicism had not yet gained sufficient popularity.
The refined, sophisticated facades are echoed by the interior rooms. In them you can get acquainted with the interiors of the 18th century. Each room is generously decorated with stucco, gilding, paintings and paintings. The floors are covered with ornate marble slabs. The Porcelain Cabinet has a special splendor, where you can see unique vases, statues and other objects of decorative and applied art.
