Lomonosov, whose webcams can be viewed on this site, is a unique city-museum where ancient palaces, parks and many historical buildings have been preserved
Everyone should visit here. And everyone here will find a lot of amazing discoveries.
The most interesting object of Lomonosov is, of course, the Oranienbaum palace and park complex. This is what this city was called in the era of the Russian Empire. Lomonosov acquired its current name only 3 years after the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The Oranienbaum ensemble is a museum-reserve, the territory of which is divided into several more complexes. These are the Big Menshikov Palace with the Lower Garden, the Palace of Peter III and Petrovsky Park, the Chinese Palace and the Upper Park. In addition to the residences themselves, there are several buildings of a different orientation on the territory of the museum complex. For example, a roller coaster pavilion or a kitchen. Also in the parks themselves surrounding the palaces there are many small architectural forms - gazebos, fountains, etc.
Next to the central entrance to the Big Menshikov Palace is the Art Gallery with the Theater (Art House)
Next to it is the lower park, which, although it does not have a large territory, is a real masterpiece of gardening art. The Lower Park gradually turns into the Upper Garden, with the Chinese Palace. On the left side of the Menshikov Palace is the palace of Peter III with an adjoining park.
The Picture House housed the court theater. There is also a rich collection of paintings, a library and a study with unique items belonging to Pyotr Fedorovich.
In the painting gallery, you can see about 80 paintings by Western European artists dating back to the 16th-18th centuries. There is also an amazing collection of Chinese furniture and other decorative items ordered by Peter III.
In addition to the Oranienbaum complex, there are a large number of ancient temples in Lomonosov
The oldest of them is the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael, which rises above Dvortsovy Prospekt and Yekaterininsky Lane, not far from the Menshikov Palace. A magnificent stone building with one main dome and a high bell tower replaced its wooden counterpart in the second half of the 19th century. The temple was erected in memory of Prince Menshikov. The temple of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky, which was erected after the Mikhailovsky Cathedral, as well as the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity, erected at the beginning of the 20th century on the site of an older wooden building of the 18th century, looks very unusual. It is worth seeing these magnificent structures at least once in your life.
If it is not yet possible to go to St. Petersburg, Lomonosov's webcams will help fill the travel deficit.
