The village of Khoi, whose webcams can be viewed online on this site, is located in a high-mountainous region of the Chechen Republic.
In these parts, at an altitude of more than 1800 meters above sea level, there is Lake Kazenoy-Am, next to which picturesque landscapes stretch.
There is a huge number of ancient stone structures that are built without a fastening composition, but perfectly retain their structure. Roofing in the local houses was made of clay, which was compacted with special cylindrical stones, which made it possible to create a monolithic ceiling without a single crack.
A dense layout, as well as endless rocky rapids, give the surroundings harshness and power. At the same time, architectural structures merge so much with the relief of stone rocks and sun-dried grass that sometimes they become completely invisible. Stone walls and battle towers look like an absolutely harmonious continuation of the surrounding landscape.
According to one version, the name of the village comes from the Chechen word "Kho", which translates as "watch".
But Khoy is considered the land of the guards. Here in the XIV-XVI centuries there were border guards who defended the surroundings from the army of enemies attacking these lands. At the same time, the exact date of the foundation of this settlement remains unknown to this day. However, no one doubts that Khoi is one of the oldest settlements on Chechen soil.
According to one version, people began to settle here after the ice age, when the first reservoirs appeared in the vicinity of the mountains, feeding huge territories with moisture and making local lands fertile. And a little later, trade trails began to be laid through the highlands. They were followed by caravans with goods. At that time, the settlement was at the peak of its development. Life was in full swing here. Local residents were engaged in trade, animal husbandry, agriculture, and grew various plant crops. The streets of the settlement were arranged in such a way as to ensure the unhindered passage of cattle and people.
Nowadays, travelers who are interested in local traditions and original culture tend to visit the mysterious village.
For those who do not yet have the opportunity to visit these places, Hoy webcams will allow you to fully enjoy these views remotely.
