Online webcam overlooking Dimitra Petkova Street, Dobrich, Bulgaria. The Bulgarian city of Dobrich has its history since the Roman Empire. Excavations near this settlement give information that back in the 3rd century there was a settlement. In the 8th century, Dobrich was home to a small Bulgarian settlement. However, the modern city has a history since the 15th century. At that time it was known as Kuruksel (translated as Dry Wharf) and was a large trading city. According to sources, there were 2,000 houses and about 300 shops of merchants and artisans.
Dobrich developed in the 19th century. Despite numerous wars, schools, hospitals and landscaping are being set up in the city. Like all Bulgarian people, the inhabitants of Dobrich were enthusiastically greeted by Russian troops who liberated Bulgaria from the Turks in 1878. It is especially valuable that the city was liberated without destruction and loss of civilian life. Local patriots did a lot to help the Russian army - served as interpreters, guides, gave sometimes invaluable information about the enemy.
In the 20th century, a railway passed through the city, which further strengthened the position of the city and gave an influx of funds. Due to the First World War, Dobrich was a member of Romania for some time, but was returned to Bulgaria in 1940. In the post-war years, the city was once called Tolbukhin, in honor of the Soviet warlord. But with the collapse of the Soviet Union it was given back its historical name.
Dobrich has a lot of interesting places. Numerous museums tell about the life and life of the inhabitants of this place and the surrounding peasants. The Museum of Archaeology reveals the secrets of the Roman rule, the first centuries of the Bulgarian kingdom, as well as the life of the city in the New and Modern times. There is an interesting ethnographic complex in which the masters retain 16 types of crafts, traditional for this city. The stone church of St. George, built in 1843, operates. There are also memorial places and a museum associated with the Bulgarian writer Jordan zhovkov. And in the surrounding area you can visit many beautiful places for walking.
