A webcam online overlooking Independence Street. Dobrich is a city located on the Dobrujan plateau by a small river, the administrative center of the region of the same name. It is more than 500 km from Sofia and is 37 km from Romania. It is the capital of the Golden Dobruji.
It is known that this territory once had a Roman settlement, and in the 8th century there was a Bulgarian settlement. The city was founded only in the 15th century and was a market village, which later became a trade and craft center. The 18th and 19th centuries were unfavourable for the city, as Dobrich found himself at the center of the war of the Russo-Turkish war. Finally released by the Russian general zimmerman in 1878.
A significant impetus for the development of Dobrich was the construction in 1911 of the railway Separation - Kardam, passing through Dobrich. Until 1916, the city was under Romanian occupation, which continued in the First World War. Then the Bulgarians, according to the Treaty of Neyi, were forced to give the Romanians Dobrudzha - a historical area that included Dobrich. This lasted until 1940, when the parties signed the Krayov Agreement, under which South Dobruja was returned to the Bulgarians. From 49 to 91, the city was called Tolbukhin.
The first thing you should see in Dobrich is the house-museum of Yukov, which was opened in 1953 in memory of the classics of Bulgarian literature. Jordan Ykovkov is named one of the greatest humanist writers. In addition, the house-museum has an art gallery, where more than 3,000 paintings by Stoymen Stoylov are exhibited. The city also has a Historical and Ethnographic Museum and a Memorial War Cemetery.
You can walk through the city park - the first trees here planted in 1862. In addition, plants are collected here not only from all over Bulgaria, but also from all over the world. The author of the architectural and park ensemble was Czech Anton Novak. In the center of the park are the Aquarium and the Planetarium. If you are on vacation with children, it will not be superfluous to visit the city zoo.
The first church in Dobrich was built in 1843 - the Church of St. George, where the school was later opened. Today, this temple is an excellent example of sacred architecture. An example of Bulgarian patriotic architecture is the monument to Khan Aspar. It was he who created the First Bulgarian Kingdom.
Also of interest is the Old Town, the part of Dobrich where many buildings have retained their appearance since the Turkish occupation.
