Phuket attracts primarily by its exotic nature, distinctive culture, an abundance of unusual monuments and temples. But there are also several institutions on the island that not only provide the economy or social sphere of the country, but also represent a tourist value.
For example, in Phuket, 9 km from Rawai, there is the Chalong Bay Rum plant. It was founded by French rum producers. Half-hour excursions are conducted around the factory, during which you can taste a fragrant mojito, the recipe of which includes rum produced at the factory. Here you can also attend master classes on making alcoholic cocktails. The duration of such a master class is about 2 hours.
Another interesting organization in Phuket is the Gibbon Rehabilitation Center, which is a small nature reserve that exists on charitable funds. Primates are moved here from various zoos and other places where animals are kept in captivity. Thanks to the efforts of the staff, the monkeys can again feel free, in their usual habitat.
The enterprise employs volunteers who inform and educate visitors, as well as care for animals in cages and observe gibbons that have already been released into their natural habitat.
Excursions are conducted around the reserve, during which you can see primates, but it is prohibited to approach the animals. Those who come to the rehabilitation center in the morning will have a unique opportunity to hear gibbons singing.
Continuing the theme of Phuket's reserves, it is worth mentioning Sirinath National Park, which runs from the northern coast of Bang Tao Beach to the most extreme point in the north of the island. The total area of the coastal part of the reserve is 22 km2. It is not adjacent to a water area with an area of 68 km2. The park complex includes the famous beaches of Nai Thon, Nai Yang, Mai Khao, the Mai Khao nature reserve and the Nai Yang National Park, where cafes, restaurants and cozy bungalows are located.
The pride of the country is the Thalang National Museum, whose expositions will tell about the history of Phuket, from antiquity to the "tin era". The exhibition displays artifacts dedicated to the lives of various ethnic groups who live in southern Thailand, or have inhabited these lands in the past.
Another museum exhibition will tell the legend of two female warriors who gathered an army of women dressed as men and prevented the Burmese invasion.
Not far from here, a monument to these two heroines was erected, which is famous throughout the island.
