Tsemes Bay - a natural Harbor in the Northern part of the Russian Black sea coast. Separated from the sea Sugalski scythe. Named was flowing into the river Tsemes. The entrance to the Bay from the North-West limits of the island delicacies, from the South-East – Cape Doob. Length 15 km, width of the entrance 9 km, depth 21-27 m. In the South-West shores are low, in the North-East the lofty, sometimes steep. The ice in the Bay seldom formed. Currents go in the direction of Anapa. Water exchange in the Bay, the delay of the Western pier and Sudzhukskaya braid. Developed shipping. Water almost does not freeze. In the North-Eastern part of the Bay stands the city of Novorossiysk. In 1839, the Bay of Sugalski was renamed in Tsemes (Novorossiysk). Here occurred the well-known events. In 1982, a battleship of the black sea fleet stopped all the clocks on Board. In may 1997, the accident at the marine terminal "Sheskharis" 400 tons of crude oil spilled into the Bay. In 1986 happened the collision of the steamship "Admiral Nakhimov" with the bulk carrier "Pyotr Vasev".
