The city is again experiencing a period of prosperity, until it is destroyed by the Arabs. At the same time, at the beginning of the 8th century. it is conquered again and this territory becomes part of the Abkhazian state.
In the XVI century. Abkhazia is captured by Turkish troops. They also come to Sukhum, calling it Sukhum-Kale. The Abkhazians were able to recapture their city only two centuries later. They pushed back the Turks and made this place the residence of their prince.
At the beginning of the XIX century. the prince of the Abkhazian state decided that it was necessary to join the Russian Empire. In 1810 an official document was signed and Abkhazia became part of Russia.

In the middle of the century, Sukhum, whose webcams are available on the site, became a trading port.

During the last Russian-Turkish war, the city suffered significantly, or rather, was burned to the ground. The population that fought on the side of the Turks was forced to leave the territory. Many villages and towns across the country were deserted. After the war, the resettlement of people began. Sukhum and other Abkhaz settlements began to be restored. Gradually, these places began to flourish. At the end of the XIX century. various factories and enterprises appear here, shops, hotels and villas are built.
