Khabarovsk is an amazing city in the Far East. It is home to about 600 thousand citizens. Despite its relative youth, Khabarovsk is located on an ancient land. European and Asian cultures are mixed here. And to get here from Moscow, you will have to fly as much as 8 hours. At the same time, you can come to this city from China in just 60 minutes.
Tourists like Khabarovsk, first of all, for its ancient architecture, beautiful squares and picturesque nature. And, of course, there are many unique attractions here.
You can start your acquaintance with the city from the embankment, which stretches for several kilometers parallel to the Amur. The territory includes walking and cycling paths, flower beds, benches for rest. While walking, you can see a monument to the famous writer N.P. Zadornov, who became famous for his interesting novels about the Far East.
The Khabarovsk embankment bears the name of Admiral Nevelskoy. It was this man who initiated the founding of a military post on these lands, from which the city gradually arose.
Amur Cliff has a stunning color and historical value. It is from here that the city chronicle begins. In the distant 19th century, the first inhabitants of the future Khabarovsk - the soldiers of the 13th Line Battalion - landed here.
Today, the Amur Cliff is considered one of the most significant city attractions. Here you can admire the river landscapes, take beautiful photos. And on clear days, you can see the Chinese Dongji Pagoda from here. This place is only 25 km away from China.
Another attraction of Khabarovsk has become famous throughout Russia thanks to the 5000 ruble bill. This is the Amursky Bridge, which, despite its simple and laconic appearance, impresses with its scale. For example, the length of the main span reaches 2.6 km. And the total length of the crossing is about 3.9 km.
The history of the building is of interest. The first Amur bridge was built before the Revolution. Its opening marked the completion of the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway. A large-scale reconstruction was carried out after the collapse of the USSR, in the early 90s. During this period, the lower tier was launched, along which the railway tracks passed. The upper, car section was opened ahead of the millennium. But the final completion of all work took place only in 2009.
You should definitely see one more attraction of Khabarovsk, which is indicated on the 5000th banknote. This is a monument to N.N.Muravyov-Amursky, who made an invaluable contribution to the development of Siberia and the entire Far Eastern region. It is believed that it was he who was the founder of Vladivostok and it was on his order that Khabarovsk was founded. The monument to the activist rises above the bank of the Amur, where the count directs his gaze to the Russian-Chinese border.
