Khabarovsk is a city on the banks of the Amur. Settlements were founded here in 1858, the city got its name in honor of the explorer Erofei Khabarov.
Erofei Pavlovich Khabarov set off on that famous campaign more than 350 years ago with a small detachment of 70 people. We went from the city of Yakutsk to explore new lands. This land was then called Daurian. Rising up the Lena River, Khabarov sent a report to Moscow, in which he wrote that this land would be "more profitable ... and against the whole of Siberia ...". The city appeared much later. The reason for this was the territorial dispute between the Russian Empire and China. It was only allowed in 1858. In accordance with the agreement between the countries, the left bank of the Amur passed to the Russian Empire, the right bank to the Ussuri River - into the possession of China. By the way, the region from the confluence of the Ussuri to the Amur to the sea was declared to be "in common possession" until the boundaries were determined. The Chinese, too, have been tagging Siberia since ancient times!
After the conclusion of the treaty, they began to organize military posts. In honor of the explorer, the military post (settlement) was named Khabarovka. On May 30, 1858, it was laid down by the soldiers of the 13th Siberian Line Battalion. The Khabarovka post was founded at the confluence of the Amur and Ussuri rivers, which in itself is very convenient. The place began to develop rapidly. Six years after the founding of Khabarovka, a plan for the development of a new settlement was developed.
By 1968, a telegraph line was extended from Vladivostok to Khabarovka. A river port was built a few years later. It was already the time of the industrialization of the economy. The city developed rapidly.
In 1893, on November 2 (October 21, old style), the city was renamed Khabarovsk. Now the capital of the Far Eastern Federal District. The Trans-Siberian Railway passes through Khabarovsk. The last, final link of this railway was a three-kilometer bridge across the Amur River, which is now the hallmark of Khabarovsk. For long-distance passengers, the Khabarovsk airport offers its services. The city of Khabarovsk is relatively young, but large. There are plenty of attractions, entertainment, hotels, restaurants here. For nature lovers, of course, the greatest interest is not the city itself, but the rich expanses of the Khabarovsk Territory.
