Tikhvin, whose webcams are available online on this site, is a small but colorful city in the Leningrad Region, which is located two hundred kilometers from the regional center.
Tikhvin was founded at the end of the 14th century. Its streets run along both banks of the Tikhvinka River, which gave the name to the city. A long history, picturesque nature and interesting cultural sites are certainly worth the attention of even those who have traveled the country far and wide.
The first local history city museum of Tikhvin was the Historical-Memorial and Architectural-Art Museum.
It was founded before the Revolution. However, during the Great Patriotic War, the collection was practically destroyed. The exposition was restored only in 1968. Today it is located on the territory of the revived Bogoroditsky Monastery and includes more than 40 thousand storage units. Walking through the halls of the museum, some of which are shared with the monastery, you can see collections of weapons, icons, works of art, books, photographs, documents, ancient artifacts. An important part of the collection is a collection of exhibits on military subjects.
An interesting exhibition is also presented by the Rimsky-Korsakov House-Museum. The building originally belonged to the Rear Admiral of the Russian Imperial Navy, and then to his son and later to his grandson, who became a famous composer.
The Rimsky-Korsakov Museum is a traditional noble estate. The building has one floor and a simple layout. It is noteworthy that despite the turbulent history of the country in the 20th century, the old stucco molding, floor, stoves, doors and windows have been preserved in the estate. The museum houses the personal belongings of the figure, passed down by his descendants. A small collection is dedicated to the first owner of the house, Pyotr Voinovich Rimsky-Korsakov.
It is noteworthy that the Palace of Culture is named after the famous composer in Tikhvin. It was built in the 80s of the last century. And its concert hall is designed for 860 spectators. After a large-scale reconstruction, more than 25 creative teams are engaged in the institution, concerts and performances are held.
For those who have not yet been able to visit these places, Tikhvin webcams will allow you to enjoy a virtual walk at any time.
