Pskov, whose webcams can be viewed online on this site, is the oldest Russian city, which impresses with a variety of its historical, architectural and cultural monuments.
The main attraction is, of course, the Pskov Krom. But not only ancient walls can boast of this great city.
After the recent restoration, the Embankment of the Velikaya River has become a popular place for walking among citizens and guests of Pskov. Its length reaches almost 2 km. And the promenade has two levels. One passes by the water's edge. The second one is along linden alley. There are stairs and ramps between the tiers. And for the convenience of walking, benches and lanterns are installed. The embankment offers a delightful view of the river itself and its opposite shore. From here you can also see the towers and walls of Krom, as well as several wooden buildings dating from the XIX century.
During a walk along the Great One, you definitely won't have to be bored. Along with the promenade, there are children's and sports grounds, berths for pleasure boats, restaurants and cafes.
The historical, cultural and ethnographic heritage of Pskov is preserved by a complex of museums or a museum-reserve.
It was founded as a Museum of Local lore in the XIX century and miraculously survived during the wars and other upheavals of the XX century. The main exhibition is located on Nekrasov Street. It is dedicated to the culture and art of the Pskov Region, as well as the years of the Second World War.
In the walls of the museum on Nekrasov you can see old household items, clothes, jewelry, toys, as well as handicrafts made of metal, wood and bone. Paintings are also exhibited here.
Along with the main building, the Museum-Reserve also includes the Pskov Krom complex, the Mason's house, the Blacksmith's Yard, the Pogankin Chambers, the Mirozhsky Monastery.
The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery has the second name Mirozhsky in honor of the Mirozha River, near the shore of which it is located. The monastery is considered one of the oldest in the northwestern part of the country. It was founded in the XII century. The true heritage of the monastery is considered to be ancient frescoes made by Greek masters. About 80% of the original images have survived to this day, which makes them unique.
The center of the monastery is the Transfiguration Cathedral. The territory also includes the St. Stephen's Church, the Fraternal Building and cells.
Another object bearing the name of the Mirozhi River is an arboretum. It is located not far from the monastery and began with several trees planted by local residents. Today it is a full-fledged recreational area with lawns, paths, lanterns and an artificial pond with ducks.
Those who have not yet managed to visit these places are recommended to watch Pskov webcams online.
