One of the most famous sites in Long Beach, whose webcams can be viewed on this site, is the Pacific Aquarium.
It is one of the largest oceanariums in the country, which is visited by about 1.5 million guests every year. It will be interesting for visitors of all ages. The exposition of the institution is so diverse that it can take a whole day to examine it.
The Long Beach Aquarium is home to about 11 thousand representatives of a wide variety of species of underwater flora and fauna.
And at the main entrance, a giant life-size model of a whale, suspended from the ceiling, will await guests.
On the territory of the aquarium there are huge reservoirs with water, which occupy several floors in height. They are sometimes used by volunteer divers who clean the glass walls of aquariums and plants, as well as pose for photographs. Anyone can try themselves as a volunteer. The main criterion is the absence of health problems, respect for nature. In total, about 650 volunteers work in the Pacific. This number is 2 times the number of employees of the institution.
Some areas of the aquarium are contact areas. Visitors can touch leopard sharks, stingrays, starfish or watch the underwater inhabitants feed. It is noteworthy that many of the inhabitants of the institution themselves swim up to visitors in order to communicate and be stroked.
Along with large reservoirs, the aquarium has separate aquariums with penguins, as well as giant exotic jellyfish, huge crabs, various species of seahorses and sharks.
A unique sight is the shark clutch, where future underwater predators - feline, horned, polar and other shark species - develop in egg capsules. To be able to observe the process of development of embryos, the fertilized capsules are cut, and a transparent film is inserted in place of the hole formed.
Along with the underwater inhabitants, the Long Beach Aquarium has an aviary with Australian parrots.
Bright birds show funny shows several times a day.
Also, in addition to the permanent exhibition, the Pacific Aquarium has swimming pools where wounded and sick animals found in the ocean are brought. Victims are treated and subsequently released back into their natural habitat.
A visit to the Long Beach Aquarium will give a multifaceted performance to the underwater inhabitants of the Atlantic, as well as a lot of pleasant impressions and emotions.
