Live webcam overlooking the intersection of Batyushkov and Blagoveshchenskaya streets in Vologda.
The lens covers the road junction and adjacent sidewalks and buildings. In this area of the city there are shops, department stores, catering establishments, bank branches. The broadcast is transmitted in real time.
The main, although not the only attraction of Vologda, whose webcams can be viewed online on this page, is the Vologda Kremlin.
This ancient complex was erected during the reign of Ivan the Terrible. Unfortunately, neither powerful wooden walls nor defensive towers have survived to this day. Today, here you can see the remains of an earthen rampart and a water moat, turned into a lake, around which a wonderful park is laid out.
But on the territory of the Kremlin, many ancient objects that remember the Middle Ages have been preserved. One of them is St. Sophia Cathedral in Vologda. Thanks to the efforts of restorers, magnificent snow-white walls, decorated inside with stunning frescoes on biblical themes, have survived to this day. In addition to the main building, the old bell tower pleases the eye, the height of which allows you to see it from almost all parts of the city. In the 19th century, chimes were installed in the tower of the bell tower, which to this day beat every 15 minutes. And already in modern times, an observation deck with a breathtaking panorama of Vologda and the historical center appeared on the top of the bell tower.
The territory of the Vologda Kremlin includes another ancient object, this is the Bishop's Yard.
In the 16th century, the head of the Vologda diocese was here. Additional walls were erected around the complex. Therefore, today this place is often called the Small Kremlin. Inside the courtyard there are several objects erected in different periods of history. These are the Economic and Simonovsky buildings, the chambers of Joseph the Golden, which today house the expositions of the Museum of Local Lore, as well as the Church of the Nativity and the Resurrection Cathedral.
In the Three-story building you can visit an exhibition of samples of ancient Russian art. And in the courtyard of the Consistory Corps, the festivals "Voices of History" and "Summer in the Kremlin" are held.
The greatest cultural and artistic heritage of Vologda is lace. It is considered an integral part of the history and a symbol of the city, along with Vologda oil and the famous carved palisade. And, of course, there is a museum in Vologda dedicated to the art of lace making.
The expositions of the Museum of Lace in Vologda are located in a two-story building near the Kremlin Square. On the ground floor there are variable exhibitions, a shop, a cafe and workshops where you can learn this wonderful craft. And on the second floor there are exhibition halls, where you can see about 700 exhibits, distributed by period.
A separate collection presents European lace, as well as peasant clothes and products of the USSR before the war.
If there is no way to go to this part of Russia yet, Vologda webcams will open up opportunities for an exciting walk online.
