There is a Lutheran church in the city in the name of St. Mary. This is the first religious building of this kind, which appeared in 1847. Initially, it was an ordinary one-story stone building. Services have been held here for over 50 years. Due to the fact that the temple fell into disrepair, in 1913 a new building was erected in the Gothic style. In the Soviet years, the church was closed and placed at first a department store, and then cultural institutions. It was returned to the Lutheran community only in 1991. After that, the church was restored and an organ was installed.

Most likely, it was installed due to the fact that Nikolai Karamzin, a native of Simbirsk, came up with this letter. The monument stands in the center of the city and is a red marble on which the letter is engraved.
