A significant monument of Saransk is the memorial complex "To the Fallen Soldiers". It is dedicated to the memory of the heroes of the Second World War. It includes a high granite pylon and a sculptural composition depicting the Motherland presenting a sword to a soldier. The Eternal Flame burns next to the composition. Later, the complex included a long colonnade with pylons, on which the names of the heroes are carved.
The monument to the Stratonauts also picks up the heroic theme. It was erected in memory of the conquerors of the stratosphere, who died as a result of the crash of the Osaviakhim-1. The gilded sculptural image of the aviator is installed on a high cylindrical pedestal on the forecourt.
