Finlandthat was long ruled by the Swedes, Turku has a second Swedish name of Turku. The appearance of the city holds in its beautiful buildings, the spirit of the old days. Turku can be called a Museum under the open sky, because every ancient streets here you will be able to tell hundreds of interesting stories. There are always lots of tourists at any time of year, I wish to get acquainted with architectural masterpieces, museums and distinctive traditions of this amazing city. The largest number of sites is occurring in the center of the river Aura. It stretches between the most important and antique monuments of the city – the Cathedral of the virgin Mary and the medieval Åbo castle. In the walls of the Cathedral, lavishly decorated with stained glass Windows and beautiful frescos, houses many relics, among which the tombs of the Swedish warriors. It should be noted that during the 7 centuries of its existence, the Church has experienced a large number of tests, among which were numerous fires. The current Romanesque-Gothic style of the Cathedral is the result of numerous restorations and additions. The most valuable monument of history, culture and architecture, both for the city and for the whole country, is the Castle of Turku. It was founded as an Outpost in the XIII century, and over time has been complemented by various extensions. In addition to impressive, forbidding appearance, the building has interesting interiors. Inside the castle, the special delight of the Banquet halls and dungeons, which often hosts cultural, entertainment and ceremonial events. Around the castle and Cathedral in different directions other unique attractions. Important part among them are architectural monuments that came to us from the XVII-XIX centuries, and which absorbed all the diversity of artistic styles from different eras. Also, it's always interesting to look at the museums in Turku. So in the Sibelius Museum, you can see an amazing collection of almost 1500 musical instruments brought from different countries. Meeting with life, the life and work of ordinary Finnish people waiting for you at the Museum of Craft Luostarinmaki, the exposure of which is stored in the squat wooden houses of XVIII-XIX century, once owned by the family of craftsmen, and miraculously survived during the great fire of 1827. In the vicinity of Turku is an interesting Park Museum, the Moomins, where they like to come families with children.
