Also in 2009, the Caucasus Leopard Recovery Center was opened on the territory of the national park. It is located in the vicinity of the Monastery village, not far from the Akhtsu gorge. Due to mass poaching, which was recorded in the 50s of the last century, the species of the Persian leopard was put on the brink of extinction. 14 kittens have been born here for the entire period of the Center's work. The first grown animals were released into the wild in 2016.
