After the collapse of the USSR, the building was empty, and during the Georgian-Abkhaz war, it was badly damaged by bombs, bullets, fires, and looters. Now the castle is in a deplorable state and it is dangerous to visit it. At the same time, you can enjoy its beautiful facade and red tiles while walking through the Seaside Park. These details stand out vividly against the backdrop of emerald evergreen trees. Even from the Gagra embankment, you can see his Falconer tower, from which the prince hunted birds.
