In real time, you can watch the walking residents and guests of the city, as well as the charming nature, the carefully landscaped territory of this wonderful place.
Many sights of Pyatigorsk, whose webcams can be viewed online on this site, are associated with the name of the outstanding poet M. Yu. Lermontov.
One of these objects are the grottoes of Diana and Lermontov. The first is artificial. It was created on the initiative of the Barnardazzi brothers to hold balls, to which Mikhail Yuryevich also liked to come.
The second grotto, bearing the name of the poet, was of natural origin. According to one version, this place was described by the poet in his novel "A Hero of Our Time". Now the Lermontov grotto is included in the list of cultural heritage sites. There is a memorial plaque commemorating the poet's name.
Notorious in Patigorsk is the supposed site of the duel between Lermontov and Martynov.
It is located on the northwestern slope of Mount Mashuk. Today, a memorial rises here, reminiscent of the tragic event. It was erected at the beginning of the last century on the site where a small memorial obelisk used to stand. The monument is made of dolomite in the classical style. On the anniversary of the death of the poet, a civil memorial service is held at its foot.
On the same mountain Mashuk there is a unique natural monument. This is the Proval cave with an underground lake. This place gained particular popularity after the release of the novel "The Twelve Chairs". After all, it was here, according to the famous plot, that Ostap Bender sold tickets to strengthen the Proval, so that it would not fail too much.
The lake is also unique for its mineral water, which has a turquoise color. You can get here by walking through a 40-meter tunnel, which is illuminated by electric lights. Also, a stone staircase leads to the Failure, overlooking the platform, from where the lake can be seen from above. At the entrance to the karst cave, there are sculptures of lions, as well as a monument to the enterprising character Ilf and Petrov.
By the way, it is worth noting that you can climb Mount Mashuk not only on foot, along special hiking trails, but also by cable car, the length of which reaches almost 1000 m. It takes only three minutes to drive along it. But during this time, the cabin stops 5 times so that travelers can enjoy the breathtaking views.
If there is no way to go to these places yet, Pyatigorsk webcams, which you can watch online in real time, will allow you to enjoy a virtual walk.
