You can learn about different periods in the history of Oktyabrsky at the Historical and Local Lore Museum named after. Anisim Shokurov, a famous archaeologist and local historian of the USSR. The first collection included many archaeological artifacts that were discovered during Shokurov's expeditions in the vicinity of the city and other regions of the republics of Bashkiria and Tatarstan.
Since 1980, the Shokurov Museum has received state status and has been attached to the National Museum of Bashkortostan.
Today, the exposition of the Oktyabrsky Museum of Local Lore is located in two buildings.
The main one, located along Lenin Avenue, includes several thematic halls dedicated to archaeological research, ethnography of the Bashkirs, history and modern realities of the city. Here you can see a collection of fossils and remains of ancient animals, a Bashkir hut and national clothes, ancient household items. And also - an extensive collection of exhibits that tell about the discoverers of oil deposits and the city itself.
The second exhibition hall, located in the 21st Microdistrict, presents an extensive photo collection that tells about various events in the city chronicle. Most of the exposition is dedicated to WWII veterans. The collection of works by the famous military commander Yevgeny Khaldei, called "From Murmansk to Berlin", is unique. Artwork is also displayed here. Part of the gallery is reserved for traveling exhibitions.
Important objects of culture and history of Oktyabrsky are local monuments. Many of them are dedicated to military history, such as the memorial in the Neftyanik park. One of the first sculptures in the complex was the monument "Thoughts of a Soldier". It was erected in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Victory. The figure sits in a thoughtful pose on a granite pedestal. Below is an inscription with the years of the beginning and end of the Second World War. And at the foot of the eternal fire burns. The complex also included busts of the heroes of the USSR, monuments to Home Front Workers and children of war, paratroopers and border guards.
