Live webcams of Oktyabrsky - Republic of Bashkortostan

Oktyabrsky webcams, which this site offers online, open the panorama of a small cozy town in the Republic of Bashkortostan, located at the very border with neighboring Tatarstan.

Despite the rather young age, the history of Oktyabrsky is eventful and began dramatically.

On a huge flat hill 180 kilometers from Ufa, rich oil deposits were discovered in the 1930s. In 1937, the construction of the Tuimazaneft trust and a workers' camp for oil workers began here. Many people came from all over the country to develop oil wells, but at first there was not enough housing, not to mention basic living conditions. The workers had to live in dugouts or ask for lodging for the night with the local villagers.
The settlement grew rapidly, the first barracks appeared, and then wooden houses. At that time there was no time to think about the layout of city streets, they built a lot and from what they would have to. The first street of Oktyabrsky has retained its historical name - Devonskaya, but not its original appearance. Now it is a historical part of a developed industrial city, the official founding date of which is 1946. In the post-war years, there was a real breakthrough in the development of Oktyabrsky's industry - several new factories were opened, and large-scale construction began throughout the city.

Now this cultural and industrial center of Bashkortostan looks like most Russian cities founded in the Soviet era.

But a typical building with a clear planning of streets and neighborhoods is still distinguished by a special national flavor. All city signs are duplicated in the Bashkir language (by the way, it is studied from toddler age). National holidays are celebrated by the entire population, regardless of religious affiliation. The main city celebration - "Kurai" in terms of the scale of the celebration can be compared with the New Year.
The climate in Oktyabrskoye is quite severe due to its unfortunate location - it is open to all winds, and winters here are very cold and snowy. The unfavorable ecological situation in the city also makes life difficult - oil production is accompanied by threatening emissions of toxic gases into the atmosphere. The local administration is taking all possible measures to clean up the environment: a pumping station has been built that allows using the gas produced together with oil and reducing its emissions. An oil sludge processing plant has also been launched and an extensive greening program for the city is planned.

If you watch Oktyabrsky's live webcams, you can see the full-flowing Ik River flowing through the entire city, through which the famous "world's longest" bridge was built.

The borders of two time zones and republics - Bashkir and Tatar - pass along it. The difference is two hours, which is exactly how long it takes to get from one side of the river to the other. The irony is that the bridge itself is very small.
Administratively, Oktyabrsky is divided into several districts, most of which are simply numbered. Several "nominal" ones are located on the outskirts - these are Zaitovo, Prometheus, Zeleny and others. They are villages, to which the city has gradually "grown" and attached to the "civilization". The exception is the so-called elite village "Sputnik", the houses in which not many people can afford and are distinguished by a special arrogant luxury.

The historical center of Oktyabrsky is mainly built up with three-story "Khrushchev" buildings, surrounded by greenery of shady alleys.

Charming quiet streets are planned with a slight curvature, which creates a visual effect of the fountain, if you look at the city from a bird's eye view. This part of the city is also the greenest, and with its rounded architecture it resembles St. Petersburg.
Here you can find several historical sights of the city, preserved from the pre-war years. This is the Devon restaurant, located in a curious building with a façade lavishly decorated with stucco and frescoes in the best Stalinist traditions.

The cinema "Orpheus", the Palace of Youth, the College of Music look peculiar.

The heart of the city is the majestic Lenin Square with an invariable monument to the leader, which turns into a wide avenue of the same name. Molodezhny Square and other small parks are decorated with beautiful fountains, and the very quiet provincial atmosphere of this part of the city contrasts sharply with the new microdistricts and their modern rhythm.
Of the natural attractions of Oktyabrsky, it is worth highlighting Mount Narysh-Tau, located not far from the city. In the summer heat, the Ik River with its picturesque tributaries and small lakes is especially popular.

If there is no opportunity to visit the city, Oktyabrsky's webcams, which you can watch online from home, invite you to a virtual tour.
