Louven-la-Nev (population 30,000), located 30 km south of Brussels, is almost exclusively a student city. The city was founded only in 1972, after the partition of the University of Leuven between Flemish and French speakers in 1968, that is, as a result of the formation of the Catholic University of Louvain (Universite catholique de Louvain (UCL).
Louven-la-Neuve is not only the newest city in Belgium, but also quite unusual, as half of its population is currently studying at the university, and the other half is mainly made up of former students, making the city the youngest in the country.
The novelty of the city means that there are no historical buildings, but Louven-la-Nev is good for its architectural harmony, clean air (there is almost no road traffic in the city) and space. The city was designed around the lake, and the modern location of its streets, of course, is very different from other cities in Belgium.
In other words, Louvain-la-Neuve is more of a large village, where people greet each other at almost every corner, and parties rule the lives of its inhabitants. There is only one "tourist attraction" in the city, the Louvain-la-Neuve museum, although the entire city is attractive in its own right.
