Live webcam with a panoramic view of the Lena River in the city of Lensk (Yakutia).
The lens captures the reservoir itself, which flows through many regions and settlements of the Russian Federation, as well as the territory adjacent to the coast. The broadcast is in real time.
Lensk, whose webcams are available online on this site, is the most important port city on the Lena River, which is also called the “Gate of the Diamond Land”.
The city itself can be walked in half an hour. And there are not many sights here. In particular, because of the severe flood of 2001, which practically wiped Lensk off the face of the earth. However, it is difficult to overestimate its important role in providing the region with everything necessary for the development of various spheres of life.
On the embankment of Lensk, which is the center of attraction for a few travelers and residents of the city, there is one significant monument.
This is a stele dedicated to the founders of the city. It is a tall column crowned with a sculptural image of a ship.
The pioneers-founders of the future city arrived here in the second half of the 17th century. Initially, on the site of Lensk there was the village of Mukhtuya, which received its name from the river that flowed nearby. In the 18th century, a postal station was built here to serve the expedition to Kamchatka, which was led by Vitus Bering. And the real heyday of the settlement came in the last century, when the development of diamond deposits began in the region. The rapid development of the fishery began in the 50s of the XX century. Around the same period, Lensk received the status of a city.
A little further from the monument to the founders of Lensk is the Victory Memorial. It includes a stele with inscribed years of the beginning and end of the Great Patriotic War, as well as several stylized structures lined with granite tiles and inscribed with inscriptions perpetuating the memory of the heroes of the struggle against the fascist regime. An eternal flame burns there.
Another monument on the Lensk Embankment is dedicated to transport workers who provided vehicles and other necessary equipment for diamond mining and construction enterprises.
Along with the cargo port, from the embankment you can get to the passenger pier, from where water transport runs along the Lena to nearby settlements.
There is also an Orthodox church in Lensk. It was built entirely of wood in the style of old Russian religious architecture. It is noteworthy that this is one of the few buildings in the city that escaped destruction during the 2001 flood.
The main attraction of Lensk is the noble taiga that surrounds it from all sides. It is for unity with nature that tourists from different parts of the country come here.
For those who cannot yet go to Yakutia, Lensk webcams will allow you to take a pleasant virtual walk.
