The village is spread over an area of 7 sq. km. It is home to about 3 thousand inhabitants.From the beginning of the 19th to the second half of the 20th centuries. it was called Sofiyivka in honor of the daughter of the founder of the village, Sofia Rouvier. It owes its current name to the extraordinary azure shade of the water.
Azure surrounds three reservoirs: the Black Sea, Oyster Lake and Dzharylgach Bay. The climate is temperate continental. Usually hot dry summers with little rainfall, which means that you can enjoy the bright sun throughout the summer season and even longer.
Since the Black Sea is deep, it warms up more slowly. A comfortable temperature is reached here only by mid-June. At the same time, thanks to the sea breezes, it is much easier and more pleasant to endure the heat here. In addition, it is an ecologically clean resort, as it is far from major cities, industrial centers and transport hubs.

It is divided into several beach sectors: west, center and east. The most comfortable and well-developed infrastructure are the first two. The beaches of the village are popular with white sand and a comfortable descent into the sea.If the traveler loves a secluded vacation, then he may be interested in the western beaches outside the village. Their only drawback is the proximity of the Oyster Lake, which is home to many insects. There are also wild beaches on the Dzharylgach island, but you can only get there by boat.
In terms of infrastructure, Lazurnoye is not developed at the highest level. But here you will find everything you need for a comfortable stay: cafes, clubs, shops, a market, an outpatient clinic, a house of culture. There is also entertainment for children. The village has a modern amusement park with many attractions, trampolines, water slides. You can even ride horses here.
There are no sights in the village itself, but they can be found outside of it. The most popular are the Dzharylgach Island, the Goryachy Klyuch geyser, the Askania-Nova nature reserve, and the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve.
