Web cameras of Yoshkar-Ola online - the capital of the Republic of Mari El

Web cameras of Yoshkar-Ola, which can be viewed online on this site, open views of a small provincial town of the Volga-Vyatka district. This is the colorful capital of the Republic of Mari El with a small population, the bulk of which are Mari, who have been sacredly honoring their national traditions and language for centuries.

Before the conquest of the modern territory of the republic by Ivan the Terrible in the middle of the XVI century, there was the land of the Kazan Khanate.

The small rebellious people resisted the subjugation of Russia for a long time and until 1585 military conflicts constantly broke out in the region.
During the reign of Fyodor Ioannovich, a craft town began to develop on the site of a wooden fortress called Tsarevokokshaysky. Gradually, Russian merchants settled it, new settlements and prosperous courtyards appeared. Tsarevokokshaysk turned into a developed shopping center for that time. The city received its modern name only in 1928.
For a long time there were no industrial productions on the territory of Mari El. The local population was engaged in the extraction and processing of furs, and small woodworking factories also operated. It was only during the Great Patriotic War that large production facilities were evacuated from the western part of the country to Yoshkar-Ola. However, the industry has not received serious development. And the city is still a cozy province, rich in cultural and national attractions.

Among the architectural monuments of Yoshkar-Ola, the Tsarevokokshay Kremlin, once built of wood, stands out in particular.

In 2009, this pride of the Mari capital was restored in stone and it quickly gained popularity among tourists. There is a square in the inner part of the Kremlin, there is a modest chapel and a monument to the founder of the city – Fyodor Ioannovich. The exhibition of ancient artillery weapons, the first photographs and archaeological exhibits found on the land of the republic is also interesting, offering to plunge into the history of this original town.
A striking example of Flemish architecture is the picturesque promenade of Bruges, imitating the Danish architectural style. It is located on the banks of the Malaya Kokshagi River and is favored by both tourists and townspeople. Romantic dates and business meetings are arranged here, photo shoots or boat trips on the river are held. The administrative institutions of the republic are located in unusual multi-colored buildings along the embankment.

If you watch the webcams of Yoshkar-Ola online, you can note an amazing number of monuments.

These are not only traditional memorials in honor of important events or historical figures. The original sculptural composition of the wedding of the Prince of the state of Monaco or the monument of Peter and Fevronia, it would seem, have nothing to do with the history of the city, but are loved by the locals. Traditionally, newlyweds should visit these personifications of family happiness and touch them "for luck".

The most recognizable sculpture of Yoshkar-Ola is located next to the main building of Mari University.

This is a bench on which the famous Yoshkin cat is decorously located. Local students have a tradition of rubbing his nose "for luck" before the exam, so he always shines as if polished.
In the city there are exact copies of the Spasskaya Tower of Moscow and the glorious Tsar Cannon. Both sculptures are installed in the city center on Obolensky Square. Here you can also see a monument to the Grand Duke, who made a valuable contribution to the formation of Yoshkar-Ola.
More recently, the majestic Annunciation Cathedral appeared not far from the Voskresenskaya Embankment. The grandiose structure with a height of more than seventy meters can be seen from all points of the city and is made according to all the canons of Russian church architecture. The golden domes and the bright facade of the temple have become the hallmark of the Mari capital. The tourist routes of Yoshkar-Ola begin here. At the foot of the cathedral there is a wide square with a variety of sculptures and gushing fountains. This is a favorite place for photo shoots of tourists and citizens.
No less interesting is the new building of the Museum of Arts of the Republic of Mari El, created in the best Italian traditions. On its high tower you can see another unusual attraction of Yoshkar-Ola – a mechanical clock. Every hour, the face of the Virgin opens on them to church music, and a marble donkey comes out of a small gate in the lower left corner, moves in a semicircle and disappears into the right gate. This amazing creation symbolizes the salvation of the icon of the Mother of God during the Turkish invasion of Serbia.

If it is not yet possible to come to this city, Yoshkar-Ola webcams, which you can watch online from anywhere in the world, will help you go on a virtual journey.
