Webcams Ulan-Ude - The capital and largest city of the Republic of Buryatia

Ulan-Ude webcams, which you can watch online on this site, open views of one of the largest cities in the Far Eastern part of our Homeland. The capital of Buryatia and, concurrently, the center of Tibetan Buddhism in Russia is a developed cultural and industrial metropolis with a high population density. The city is rich in attractions, including valuable historical and architectural monuments.

Ulan-Ude is an example of a successful combination of contradictions and contrasts.

Orthodox churches are adjacent to Buddhist monasteries – datsans, and in the historical part of the city, one-story old buildings alternate with fashionable shops and modern shopping centers.
The diverse and picturesque nature of the Buryat capital impresses and attracts the attention of tourists. Mountain landscapes are replaced by river valleys and dense forests, but the most famous natural attraction of the region and the wealth of Russia is the beautiful Baikal. The lake is located a hundred kilometers from the city, and all Ulan-Ude sightseeing routes invariably lead to this unique natural object.
The tourist season in Buryatia is short – only a couple of summer months, but the flow of people wishing to see this amazing city is growing every year. What stimulates the development of comfortable infrastructure, as well as the development of new ideas for the educational and entertainment program of tourism in the region.

There is a lot to see in Ulan-Ude, in addition to magnificent religious buildings.

Cozy central streets of the city seem to be transferred to the epoch of the XVIII century with restored buildings of a provincial town and museums of national cultures and art. And next door there is a bustling modern part of the city with sparkling bright illumination entertainment centers. The streets are decorated with original sculptural compositions, and colorful taverns offer dishes of national cuisine. Part of the center of Ulan-Ude is closed to transport and visitors call this pedestrian area "Buryat Arbat".
In the multinational and densely populated capital of Buryatia, you can see many unique cultural heritage sites: museums, art galleries, theaters. There is an active philharmonic society with a diverse program of both classical and national Buryat music. Buddhist pagodas and the ritual hum of drums remind visitors of the city that they are in the Russian center of this exotic and beautiful culture.

If you watch Ulan-Ude webcams online, you can note the unusual geographical location of the city along the mountain river Uda, which determines the peculiar hilly relief of the streets.

The narrow river valley, which gave its name to the Buryat capital, is squeezed by high mountain ranges and hilly hills. And the streets of the city, like a water stream, seem to descend from the mountainous part of the city to the low-lying areas.
In the wide flat place where the Uda flows into the Selenga, the main tributary of Lake Baikal, there are new residential neighborhoods of the city that have grown over the past decades. This is a completely different Ulan-Ude – a modern multi-storey metropolis with a developed infrastructure and a complex network of road interchanges and grandiose transport bridges across the Selenga: three automobile and railway. This crossing is part of the federal highway "Baikal" and the Trans-Siberian Railway. It plays a key role in the development of the city as the most important transport hub connecting the center of Russia with the Far East and neighboring Asian states.

Among the attractions of Ulan-Ude, it is worth considering separately the abundance of original sculptural compositions and monuments.

At the entrance to the city from the airport you can see an interesting monument "Hospitable Buryatia". A majestic female figure holds out a khadak in greeting – a special Buddhist ritual scarf symbolizing hospitality. Also particularly noteworthy and visible from afar is the stone cross installed on the rocky shore of the Uda. This is gratitude and memory of the Cossacks who once laid the Udinsky fortress here and laid the foundation for the history of the city.
At the Main Post Office building in the center of Ulan-Ude, the famous bronze hemisphere is installed – the business card of the city. It symbolically denotes the zero kilometer and is a popular place for photo shoots of tourists, as well as the starting point of all sightseeing routes of the city. Nearby, on the central square, there is an eight-meter pedestal with the world's largest bust of the leader of the revolution V. I. Lenin.

If it is not possible to see the city with your own eyes, Ulan-Ude webcams, which you can watch online even from home, invite you to an exciting virtual tour.
