The name of the city comes from the word, which is translated from the language of the indigenous peoples as "brave" or "swift". Initially, this was the name of the fast river, and then the name was transferred to the settlement, founded at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It is noteworthy that the city really developed very quickly. Neuquén experienced its first heyday after the construction of the railway. The climate in Neuquen is arid and windy, with minimal rainfall. The average temperature in the summer months is around 24 degrees. In winter, the thermometers drop to 6 degrees.
There are no direct flights to Neuquen from Russia. Therefore, you can get there only with transfers. Some Russian tourists fly through Madrid to Buenos Aires, and from there to Neuquen. The airport is located near the central part of the city. It serves domestic flights of the country and daily receives planes from the capital.
