Panoramic webcam in real time shows the magnificent Matosinhos beach in the Portuguese district of Porto. The beach of Matosinhos is located between the cargo port and Castelo do Queijo, on the northern coast of Portugal.
The beach is a long and wide strip of sand. The descent into the water is gentle, with a long shoal, the bottom is sandy, but the beach is not always suitable for swimming. The water is quite cold and often windy. The beach is popular, but there is enough space to accommodate locals and a few tourists.
The infrastructure is rather scarce, the water is not very clean, but this does not bother the adherents of riding on the crest of the wave. Matosinhos is a great surfing spot. Surfers have to do their favorite thing in wetsuits, not only because of the cold water, but also the sewage that the port discharges into the ocean. The impression spoiled by the view of industrial buildings is slightly brightened up by the medieval castle of Castelo do Queijo. Locals find the shape of the structure very similar to a head of cheese, hence the name of the citadel.
The main advantage of Matosinhos for ordinary tourists is the numerous restaurants with excellent cuisine, where you can order fish and seafood dishes prepared in accordance with local culinary traditions. In July, a large-scale fish festival is held on the beach, where you can taste a variety of delicacies.
