Rustaveli Avenue is a Central Avenue in the city Tbilisi,Georgia. The Avenue is named in honor of the medieval Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli. Full length of the Avenue that stretches from Liberty square to Rustaveli Avenue, has about a mile. Until 1918, the Avenue was called Golovin Avenue, in honor of one of the famous Russian generals — E. Golovin. Today on the prospect of a large number of different governmental, public, private, cultural and various commercial structures, among which is the Parliament of Georgia, Academy of Sciences of Georgia, Kashveti Church, the Georgian national Museum, theatre named after Shota Rustaveli, theatre of Opera and ballet, the Tbilisi drama theatre named after the famous writer Alexander Griboyedov and many other landmark architectural buildings. Both sides of the Avenue is decorated with tall plane trees. Earlier on Rustaveli Avenue were bloody action in 1989, in the winter of 1991 and 1992. This place was also marked by protests in 2007 and 2011 At the end of the Avenue you can also see the monument erected in honor of Shota Rustaveli. On the Avenue, you can also meet one of the stores mineral water, which tourists are sure to come every time.
