Hrad Strakonice - Strakonice castle, built in XII-XIII centuries at the junction of the rivers Otava and Volynka, is one of the oldest in the Czech Republic and is a typical example of Czech architecture.
First masters Strakonice was a feudal the sort Bavoriv, who for more than 50 years, has repeatedly subjected the castle of the restructuring. First there was built a fortified castle with high exterior stone walls and the adjoining Church of St. Procopius, a little later was erected the tower, and the fortress itself is surrounded by a deep ditch filled with water.
Some time later, the order of ion exchangers, which Bavor I gave the Eastern part of the castle, built a New Palace and a 35-meter tower Rumpel. One of the last of the towers built in the XVI century, is Elenka, in which the owners of the Palace gave a Banquet hall. Around the castle was also broken luxury garden gazebos, which walked a fine pheasants.
During its long history of construction and numerous renovations Strakonice acquired features of different styles of architecture: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. Despite this diversity, the structure of the castle looks quite interesting and organically.
