The North Caucasus gave the world the real magic of its nature, including the highest mountain in Europe - Elbrus. Elbrus is famous for its magnificent gorges, lakes, peaks and waterfalls. There are also several cultural attractions here. For example, in the village of Tegenekli of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic there is an unusual museum of Vladimir Vysotsky. The institution is located among the mountains. And the building is built of volcanic lava. The exposition of the museum demonstrates climbing equipment, hunting trophies, stuffed animals living in these lands, as well as documents and photographs telling about the first conquerors of Elbrus. A separate exhibition is dedicated to the famous poet, actor and musician V.S.Vysotsky. It includes photographs, letters, posters, gramophone records, some personal belongings of the singer. It was in these parts that Vladimir Semenovich starred in the epoch-making film "Vertical". Traveling along the Elbrus, you should definitely see the complex of Chegem Waterfalls. This natural landmark is famous far beyond the borders of the Republic. Here, several water streams flow down from high plummets at once, which feed the river, which gave the name to this gorge. The largest waterfall is called Adai-Su. The height of its cascades reaches 30 meters. The padun Sakal-Tup has a little less power. The smallest of the Chegem waterfalls - Kayaarta, falls from a height of 50-60 meters, forming several cascades at once. In addition to the three largest waterfalls, in the Chegem gorge, you can see a large number of thin water jets that seep through rocky crevices. These places are often called “weeping rocks”. In the winter season, the Chegem waterfalls freeze and turn into giant icicles, making fabulous walls of ice crystals out of rocks. Elbrus can be reached by two routes - from Mineralnye Vody or Nalchik. Choosing the second option, travelers get a unique opportunity to walk along the picturesque Baksan Gorge. An asphalt road has been laid through it, on one side of which a turbulent river rustles, which gave the name to this place. On the other hand, steep cliffs rise. The entire path of travelers will silently accompany the harsh and majestic Elbrus.
