Khmelnitskythe region has a rich historical and cultural heritage. These lands are connected such outstanding names, such figures of the past, as Ustym karmalyuk, Gerasim and Meletios Smotritskii, Stepan khotovitsky the Martyr, as well as such contemporaries as Oleksandr Ponomaryov, Nikolay Gnatyuk and many others. The administrative center of the Khmelnytskyi region falls on the city of Khmelnitsky, named in honor of the hero of the liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people Bohdan-Zinoviy Khmelnytskyi. Until 1954, a city built in a place where the Flat river flows into the southern bug, was called Proskurov. The main and largest square of the city of Khmelnitsky is the Independence square, on which are placed the regional state administration building. The appearance of the town square, Independence square has acquired the 50-ies of XX century, when was built the House of the Soviets that in our day and is the home of Khmelnytskyi regional state administration. In the late 60-ies during the reign of the Soviets, the square was given the name of Lenin, and in 1970, the square was a monument to this political and statesman, one of the organizers of the October revolution. However, after declaring Ukraine an independent state in 1991, the square was renamed Independence square to commemorate the perpetuation of this proclamation and the monument to the founder of the first Socialist state in world history, a year later, was dismantled and moved to the city Park of culture and rest. The current area has a symmetrical layout of the wide, tiled areas, with a small odinokimi green patches of lawns and flowerbeds, over which the towering blue spruce, and a small coniferous shrubs. Looks very impressive, built in the postwar period of the twentieth century, the building of the regional state administration. Almost way the Palace buildings, designed in the best traditions of classic architecture, surmounted by a tower overlooking all four sides of the light clock, over which rushes into the sky spire. With two sides from the White house, the area is embellished with fountains, and opposite the entrance to the administration building was placed a monumental sculptural composition called "Songs of the Earth Podolsk", which depicts three female figures symbolizing Faith, Hope and Love. The author of the monument to Mykola Mazur. This nine-meter sculpture, installed to the 20-th anniversary of independence of Ukraine, is one of the symbols of the modern city of Khmelnytskyi. In her images the author wanted to convey the idea, without which he cannot live – this song is eternal, like hope, love and faith.
