Bialystok, Polandis the largest city in the North-East of Europe. The city name comes from the name of the Belaya river, on whose banks it is located. The date of Foundation of the city is 1320 , according to legend, the founder of the city of Bialystok is the Lithuanian Duke Gediminas. There are several historical versions about the origin of the city. Approximately Chistorete around the city opened a textile factory for the production of cloth and soon Bialystok, became the center of textile industry of Poland. The city was the Catholic Church, the Lutheran and Orthodox churches, and two synagogues. In 1915, białystok was occupied by the Germans in 1918 was transferred to the Belarusian people's Republic but four months later became part of Lithuania, and later again returned to Poland. In 1941 the Germans took Bialystok and brutally killed all the Jews living in the city. Killing a large number of people in the concentration camps. In 1944 the Red Army liberated białystok from the German invaders and returned the city to Poland.
