Puebla de Zaragoza (Puebla de Zaragoza), or just Puebla (Puebla) is a major city in Mexico, 110 km South-East of Mexico city. Important cultural, scientific and economic center of the country. A population of over 1 540 000 people (2010). This is the fourth populous city in the country after Mexico city, Guadalajara and Monterrey.
Puebla is located in the valley surrounded by 4 volcanoes: the Peak of Orizaba (5636 m), popocatépetl (5426 m, active and permanent), Iztaccihuatl (5230 m) and La Malinche (4503 m). All four of the volcano – the highest point in Mexico and one of the highest in North America.
Historical and cultural value of Puebla is one of the main reasons that she was chosen as a world heritage site by UNESCO. Various architectural styles such as Baroque, classical and Renaissance are represented here in over 5,000 buildings. The historic downtown is filled with magnificent churches, monasteries and mansions in colonial style, the facade of which is decorated with Talavera tiles, typical of this region.
