The most famous museum in Belgorod is the Diorama “Battle of Kursk. Belgorod direction ". The collection is dedicated to a tank battle that took place in July 1943, near the village of Prokhorovka, Belgorod Region. This day went down in history as one of the key moments of the Great Patriotic War, which influenced its outcome.
The center of the collection is a huge canvas depicting battle scenes. It is the largest canvas in Europe with an area of ​​over 1000 m2. The artists depicted the epicenter of the battle on it.
The museum's collection also includes other artifacts that tell about the history of wartime. Samples of military equipment of the USSR are presented on a spacious platform near the building of the museum, which has the shape of an arc.
The Belgorod Art Museum occupies an important place in the cultural life of the city. Within its walls, in chronological order, are the works of Russian masters, from the beginning of the last century to the present day. The gallery building itself has an interesting design and unusual decor.
The people of the city are especially interested in the Museum of Folk Culture, which contains a unique collection of costumes and jewelry of Belgorod peasants, as well as collections of weapons, household items, books, numismatics, archaeological finds.

One of the most beautiful buildings in Belgorod is the house of the merchant Selivanov, built in the 18th century and becoming the “home” for the funds of the Belgorod Literary Museum.

In addition to traditional museum expositions, the city provides an opportunity to see something new. It is a fairly young contact museum of Medieval Warfare that was founded by a research laboratory in 2019. The funds of the institution contain ancient household items, weapons and armor dating back to the XI-XIV centuries, the period of the High Middle Ages. However, the exhibits on display are not originals. They have been recreated in the laboratory based on blueprints and drawings. You can touch the exhibits with your hands and even wear them and take pictures. You can get to the institution only by appointment.
