The settlement owes its appearance to the construction of the Nizhnevartskoye hydroelectric power plant. Plans for its construction were developed in 1980 to maintain a new power plant nearby equipped with a village. Initially, it was under the control of the Vampugol village council.
In 1986, by order of the Tyumen regional authorities, the settlement was given the name Izglyuchinsk. The name of the settlement accurately shows its location in the bend on the Waha River, which belongs to the Obi Basin (right tributary). In terms of physical geography, the settlement is located in the central part of the West Siberian Plain. Its buildings occupy the right bank of The Wach in the place of the flow of the Okunevka River.
Administratively, it is part of the Khanta-Mansi Autonomous Region - Yugra and occupies a position on the eastern edge of the region. Iludinsk is under the control of the Nizhnevart district. It is separated from the district center by a distance of 17 km.
