The airport has not changed its name, the locals call him as before Luka airport. It is located 5 kilometers fromValettaThe Maltese capital. The airport serves as the main hub for Air Malta and Ryanair. The first airfield in Malta was built in the town of Ta Qali, and then an airport was built Bow. In 1977 was equipped with a more reliable landing strip, but construction was not completed, not enough funds for its elements. It was decided that the old airport has had its day, and therefore began to build a new one, but with the change of policy in 1987, the new administration decided to finish the job. Construction was completed in the shortest time. In 1992, the old terminal was closed. The entire airport was already restored, and built a new terminal which can be observed today.
